Reminders

There is beauty in this life, ever present and always changing through seasons of growth and loss. Perhaps we need reminding from time to time of our beautiful moments, like a favorite snapshot from a decade ago.

This is one of my most favorite moon pictures. I took this from my side yard, out with my tripod, really just enjoying the night and trying to practice some night photography. It was a good night.

Those outstretched hickory tree branches made the perfect frame that night. I must have taken over 50 frames just to get this one picture a full decade ago ~ and I loved every second of it.

I cannot recreate that night, or retake the same picture. That beautiful hickory tree no longer stands; other surrounding trees have grown and fallen as well since then. now and the landscape, though similar is not the same. So much has changed.

Even so, the moon still shines as brightly across the darkness as it did then. Fireflies dance in the soft light of the moonbeams. An orchestra of crickets and frogs serenades all who care to join in the dance, or perhaps just listen without regard or regret for the flow of time.

There is beauty in this life, ever present and always changing through seasons of growth and loss. Perhaps we need reminding from time to time of our beautiful moments, like a favorite snapshot from a decade ago.
